The Mariposa-Yosemite Airport has a new fixed base operator as of June 1, 2010. The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors approved a management agreement with KMPI Airport & Rent-a-Car, Inc.
KMPI is owned by local businessmen Rick Roesch of Mercy Medical Transport Co. and Jesse Figueroa, who is partner with Roesch in the Greeley Hill Market. Both men have the overall responsibility for the operation of the airport through their managers on site. Currently KMPI has 3 part-time employees: Sharon Coolidge, Airport Supervisor who works the terminal building Fri., Sat., and Sundays, and Steve Woods, Airport Operations, working Mon. thru Thurs. and Bob Pierson, Maintenance Manager.
The airport terminal building is open and staffed 9am to 5pm (summer) and 8am to 4pm (winter) 7 days a week, except for 7 major holidays throughout the year (New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day). Usually you will find the terminal building open for business Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day as typically these are busy, summer weekend holiday.
